COMMUNITY PATH

When we practice together, we inspire each other to what is possible.

At Mati, we cultivate our group classes to be a safe and supportive space for you to continue to grow your practice. These classes are challenging — be that physically or mentally — yet fun, and we intend our classes to be a place of learning and healing.

Everyone is always welcome. Unkindness will not be tolerated.

MATI MASTER CLASS

Our signature 90 minute class is an intermediate level āsana class, incorporating prāṇāyāma, mudra, mantra and meditation. This practice is open to all, but it is recommended to have some experience in asana prior to attending.

MATI FLOW

Our signature 60 or 75 minute class connects with the flow of energy in the body. These yoga āsana classes are inspired by a range of yogic lineages, and challenge students both physically, and mentally, with the goal of increasing Self Awareness.

HARMONIZING YIN

Melting into the layers of the body, this harmonizing yin practice intends to observe the process of moving from the outside in. We hold the postures for several minutes in complete, inactive stillness, watching the fluctuations of mind and body.

ENERGIZING YIN

Waking up the layers of the body, this energizing yin practice intends to observe the process of moving stagnant energy from the inside out. This class offers an opportunity to witness the constantly moving sensations in the body through both stillness and concentrated movement. Expect yin poses you know and love, as well as meditative movement practices such as qi gong and tai ji.

Dhāraṇā: CONCENTRATION MEDITATION

Dhāraṇā is one of the 8 Limbs of Patanjali's Yoga Sutra. It hones the ability to become aware of only the object of concentration. The object can be any- it is the ability to concentrate we are developing. This is a practice which benefits all, as we can learn to control the mind amidst rampant thoughts, worries, overwhelm...

Consistent practice of dhāraṇā is essentially to the Yoga practice. It is a good idea to make time to devote yourself to the practice. It will improve your focus and presence in every aspect of your life.

Prānāyāma

Prānāyāma is the control and expansion of prāṇa. Prāṇa lives in and around us, but it is inside where we can learn control. This is why prānāyāma practice, like bandha, helps to manage our internal environment so we can respond rather than react to the external world. It is a very humbling practice, one that is to be cultivated with consistency over a long period of time. When one learns to mange prāṇa, one learns to manage, or calm, the mind. Peace is available! 30 minute class

KIRTAN + PRASAD

Kirtan is a practice to come together and sing the names of the divine through mantra. Chanting kirtan is a devotional practice that helps to uplift the mind, open the heart and bring inner peace. It is the fastest, easiest and most joyful way to achieve peace of mind as we connect through our hearts. You are welcome as you are, no experience needed in any way. This practice is for all. You can sit in reflection, perhaps with the eyes closed, or you may share through voice if you feel called to.

Prasad is a gift given graciously and shared between the Divine and the individual(s) making the offering. At its essence, it symbolizes receiving and giving between the Divine and human — illustrating grace, divine love and connection. Come and enjoy the offering of food and tea and community! All are always welcome. If you would like to bring something (though it is not necessary), we ask that the dish be vegan.

MATI SOUND

An experience of sound, this class matches the chanting of powerful, healing mantras to the frequency of 7 crystal sound healing bowls. The harmony of harmonium and sound bowls offers a deep, meditative experience, healing both the physical and energy body. Expect to find moments of stillness as well as opportunities to sing and play along!

TEA TALK

Join us for tea, meditation and open discussion on yogic philosophy, wise texts such as the Yoga Sutras, Hatha Yoga Pradipika and Bhagavad Gita, as well as physical and energetic anatomy. All are welcome— no topic is off limits!
